We all know who Dr. King is, the other portrait is actually of the father of the artist. The father (now passed on) and mother ran NAMI Franklin County before Rachelle so I thought that was very fitting.

December’s talent search Shining Star award goes to Laurita Barber!
Laurita’s own mental health journey has led her to become a mental health advocate. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2002 and worked until 2010 until she could no longer work due to complications of MS. Laurita thought she would never work again, but God had a different plan for her life.
Laurita has many talents, but the one she is most humbled by is her most recent accomplishments of becoming a Certified Aromatherapist, starting a business called Earth’s Extract, and launching a website. Laurita stated her greatest desire is to help her community by helping people heal mentally, emotionally and physically. “A lot of us, too many of us, spend too much of our lives in pain. Often times the pain is so debilitating that we can find ourselves stuck for months, years, and even decades. If I can serve people by helping them to feel better by sharing my gifts with them, then I am truly humbled.”
For more information contact Laurita at [email protected]
